The Family Campsite of La Vallée is beautifully situated amongst the gentle sloping hills of Normandy and is within walking distance of fine sandy beaches and the village of Houlgate. This Campsite is ideal for a short break and not too far to travel, but still leaving you with a feeling of having been away. The Normandy coast has alot to offer and is drenched in history, and the D-day landing beaches near Bayeux are close by. You can visit the Mont St Michel, the great canyons of the Suisse Normande and various towns in the nearby area, such as Deauville, Trouville and Honfleur.
Swimming facilities at Camping La Vallée
Camping La Vallée is known for its large water park. All of the outdoor pools (open from May 1) are heated, so even if the weather is not so good, you will be fine here. And the slides here are really top notch! The newest addition is the Space Bowl, a super fast funnel slide, and all the slides are heated as well. There is also a heated indoor pool, with a paddling pool and whirlpool. In short, bring your swimsuit (not Bermuda shorts) or bikini and come and enjoy yourself here. Besides, the sea is also just around the corner, less than 1.5 kilometers from the campsite are the wide sandy beaches of Normandy.
The Campsite and facilities at Camping La Vallée
Facilities are well organised at Campsite La Vallée. The younger kids can enjoy a game of table tennis, beach volleyball, kick around on the football fields or enjoy the big playground area. The older children can pass the time in the games room/arcade. Activities are organised throughout the season, but in July and August extra events are organised, such introduction to (scuba) diving for beginners. After dinner you can enjoy the evening entertainment of shows and live music, as well as various other organised events such as “Mr and Miss Camping” elections. There is a shop on the Campsite, but there are a number of big supermarkets in the surrounding area.
Nearby at Camping La Vallée
The town of Houlgate is within walking distance from the Campsite and is a great tourist attraction in high season. Another great town to visit is the lively Cabourg. In the mornings at low tide you can look for crabs and shells on the beach. There is alot to do and see in the region, especially for those interested in WWII, D-Day beaches and the Mémorial (museum) in Caen. A great outing for the kids is a day to Mont St Michel, not just an Abbey, but a whole walled medieval city. It is one of the most steeply tidal points in Europe. The art lovers amongst you can admire the Tapis de Bayeux, embroidered work that stretches a mere 70 metres in length, depicting the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
On arrival you will have to pay a deposit (cash) of € 20,- for the barrier card and € 20,- per family for the wristbands for access to the pool.
