Although Friesland is visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists in the summer, the most water-rich province of the Netherlands is generally wonderfully quiet. You can enjoy peace and quiet and many different landscapes, such as mounds, beach and of course the Frisian lakes. Water sports enthusiasts are sure to find what they are looking for in Friesland, with the Sneekweek, Skutsjesielen, mudflat hiking or just a day renting a boat on one of the many lakes. But there are also beautiful villages with centuries-old churches and farms on mounds, windmills and National Parks, such as Schiermonnikoog and the Lauwersmeer area. Shopping and a terrace can of course be done in Leeuwarden, Dokkum or one of the other Frisian Eleven Cities. Friesland has something for everyone. n)
