Italian delights by the sea
Right by the sea – it’s lovely to be able to walk straight to the beach from the campsite.
Plenty of greenery and shade – the many trees give the campsite a lovely atmosphere and provide pleasant shaded spots, even in the Italian heat.
Great location near Gallipoli – you can get to the lively town centre in no time, and the campsite is a lovely base from which to explore the surrounding area.
The bathroom fixtures are a bit dated – they could do with a bit of a spruce-up in some places.
The beach isn’t the best in the area – it’s nice that it’s right next to the campsite, but you’ll need to drive a bit to reach the really beautiful beaches around Gallipoli.

Our holiday at La Vecchia Torre La Vecchia Torre was exactly the sort of place where that holiday feeling kicks in straight away. Waking up amongst the trees, feeling the warmth of southern Italy and knowing that the sea is literally just a few minutes’ walk away. We particularly loved that combination of lush greenery, shade and the seaside location. During the day, we regularly explored the surrounding area to discover the beautiful beaches and villages around Gallipoli, and afterwards it was lovely to return to the campsite. Precisely because La Vecchia Torre is so green, it feels pleasant and relaxing despite the Italian summer heat. Of course, not everything is perfect. In our view, some of the facilities and the sanitary block could do with a bit of modernising, and the beach right in front of the campsite isn’t the very best Puglia has to offer. But with so many beautiful spots in the area, we didn’t find that a problem at all. What has really stuck with us? That wonderful Italian holiday feeling: sun, sea, long warm evenings and discovering new places together. We look back on our time at La Vecchia Torre with immense pleasure. A holiday we’ll think back on often — and for which we’d love to return to Puglia. 🇮🇹☀️
