A refreshing dip on a hot summer day? At Flower Camping La Rivière you've come to the right place. The pool is clear, perfect for families with younger children, but also with a slide for older children. There is a paddling pool with shallow water, where the little ones can play and splash around safely. The deck chairs around the pool are ready for you – mét overlooking the hills. So no hysterical water park, but rather a relaxing place where you can keep an eye on your children while you unwind. And for those who prefer to dive into nature: within walking distance is the river Le Largue. Clean, shallow and ideal for paddling, building dams or just floating around with an inflatable.

What stands out about this campground is its peace and quiet. Yet there is plenty for children to do. Our tip? The mini farm on site. Feeding little goats and petting rabbits remains a hit – even with adolescents who at first declare themselves “too old”. The playground is orderly and inviting, with shaded areas for parents. In high season, there is entertainment with crafts, scavenger hunts and games. Evenings are regularly organised with entertaining activities, from music evenings to films on the big screen.

And yes, you have been thought of, too. At the campground's restaurant, sit down for a good pizza or Provençaal meal. You can sit on the terrace under the trees, with a good glass of wine, while the children expend their energy on the bouncy castle. The small campsite store has everything you need for breakfast or an impromptu picnic.

Saint-Maime is located in the heart of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence – and that means enjoyment. Nearby, you will find charming villages like Forcalquier and Manosque, where you can stroll through markets and taste local products. For the kids, there are plenty of adventures to be had. Rent a canoe on the Verdon, visit the lavender museum or take a ride on Provence's old steam train.

Our favourite? The Gorges du Verdon: impressive gorges where you can hike, boat or just enjoy the view. Also fun: a day trip to Lac de Sainte-Croix, a clear blue lake where you can swim, paddle boats or picnic on the shore.
