Camping Etche Zahar

Water fun doesn't have to be big to be wonderful. At Camping Etche Zahar there is a clear pool where children can move freely, and a safe 28 m² paddling pool for the little ones. The atmosphere by the pool is convivial: a few families, a towel in the grass, and parents looking on, relaxed with a book or a cool drink. And if you feel like a day by the sea, in less than half an hour you can drive to the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic coast, at Biarritz or Anglet. Swimming between the mountains and the ocean – you don't experience that every day.  

This campground is all about simplicity and comfort. No noisy animation, but a natural play environment where children can go on their own adventure. There is a nice playground, a petanque court where you will be challenged by a French neighbour, and a snack bar where you'll enjoy local snacks and a good glass of wine in the evening. For daily shopping, just walk to the village of Urt, where the bakery still serves you the old-fashioned way with a smile.

The campsite is conveniently arranged with 76 pitches and a number of comfortable accommodations. The sanitary facilities are modern and accessible, including for people with disabilities. And yes – pets are just welcome here!

You are right here between the mountains of the Pyreneesën and the beaches of the Atlantic coast. Every day offers new possibilities. Explore typical Basque villages like Espelette with its famous peppers, or stroll through the narrow streets of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. Chances are you will come across a local festival along the way, as there is always something to celebrate in this region.

For a day in the city, Bayonne and Biarritz are highly recommended. The kids will feast their eyes on the sea aquarium, while you enjoy fresh fish on a waterfront terrace. Or get on your bike and follow one of the many quiet routes along rivers, forests and villages. Don't come here for masses of tourists, but for the pure experience of southern France.
